Watercolour and charcoal drawings by Jan Konůpek from 1926-46 deal with architectural visions, compositions of dreamy cosmic cities. Jan Konůpek, was a member of the Sursum, and the list of his graphic works comprises about 1500 works and more than 600 book illustrations. He was mainly influenced by symbolism but also by Art Nouveau, cubism, surrealism and abstract art. His oeuvre culminated in the dark Orphic etchings. He was an artist-intellectual and almost all his works are influenced by literature, poetry, and philosophy.
