On view in the staircase between the ground floor and basement level.

Johana Pošová (b. 1985) studied photography, but in her work she reflects other media as well as graphic design very often. Even though, historically, both graphic design and photography are connected with the idea of accuracy and correctness, Pošová plays with the realm of unknown and coincidence. This would be the case for her Kobylisy Shooting Range series, where she documented an area in Prague’s outskirts that was built and used as a shooting range from the end of the 19th century. This area was unfortunately used by Nazis as an execution place during the war and occupation, which is what gives it an unusual aura. Pošová’s pictures taken there underwent defective development in the professional photo-lab, making them all unique and almost painting-like. Instead of destroying them or making new ones, she decided to make this fault a main merit. Similarly the Migraine with an Aura represents a unique situation captured in “decisive moment”, a style made famous by Henri Cartier-Bresson.
