Gregor Wright’s pictures (along with the many plastics and sculptures he creates) exist somewhere between modern-expressionism and tribal or childish drawings. The viewer is invited to make his or her own judgement about the drawing’s origin. One can easily forget that Wright (b. 1975) loves science-fiction as well as dinosaurs and can instead concentrate more closely on what might look like an explosion of sprays and colors. These have - according to Wright - an elaborated visual aesthetic. Most importantly, Wright likes to play, and he calls himself a “hands-on artist”, meaning that the process of making plays a big role in the finished result.
